Building Trust on Social Media

People trust people. Not brands.

A study by Impact found that 88% of consumers said that they trust recommendations from people they know above all other forms of marketing. 81% said that seeing a post by a friend or family member drove their interest in a brand or product over the past year.

What does this mean for behavioral health? In our field more than many others, creating trust online is paramount. Everything that we create is built with this in mind, but there are ways to supplement our efforts and boost your impact.

For example, sharing brand posts we create from your personal account can not only increase reach; it can also build trust in your organization with a much wider audience. Re-posting content you’re proud of to your Instagram stories, re-sharing on LinkedIn with a comment, or posting in industry-related Facebook groups all helps give the content we create a bigger audience, and an extra layer of credibility provided by that human touch.

Social Media Tips

Now, we all can spot spammy marketing shills from a mile away online. Don’t be that person. Stick to 1-2 reposts a day, max, and only choose pieces of content that align with your own authentic viewpoint and voice.

This week, try reposting 1-2 pieces of content from your organization’s official page, on different platforms. Add your own note to give it a personal touch.

You might be surprised at the response, and who is happy to hear from you. That means staying top of mind, driving more referrals, and helping to grow your business.
